The March meeting was held with 27 members and guests present. Speaker for the evening was Jack Haymuk who led us through the maze of yet another collecting field: glass insulators. We have mintmarks, they have the equivalent markings that identify different manufacturers and times. Some are rare - and as another anology to coins, counterfeits exist. Interesting. It is now definite: the Mid-Island Coin Club Barbecue will be held at the Parksville Family Park on Sunday, July 15, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The picnic shelter for that time has been booked and confirmed. Once in the park, follow the M.I.C.C. Barbecue signs. Bring grandma and the kids - oh, and any coin collector. Carl Johnson, president of the Alberni Valley Coin Club as well as an M.I.C.C. member, announced that their April meeting (Thursday evening, April 19) will include a donation auction. If unable to submit items beforehand, just bring them to the meeting itself. News Flash: The new location for Nanaimo Stamp & Coin will be in the antique store at Rutherford Mall - the same one that was occupied a couple of years ago. This one is much more secure . Scheduled opening there is April 3. Hours will continue as before: Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The phone number will also remain the same: (250) 758-5896.
