MICCy Speaks:

The May meeting was held with 30 members and guests present, our speaker for the evening being Tolling Jennings, Master of the Lasqueti Mint, who filled us in on minting techniques as well as displaying a selection of his products. In gold, yet.

Lest anyone be in doubt: The Great Mid-Island Barbecue will be held, as in the past few years, at the Family Park in Parksville. The date will be Sunday, July 20 , from roughly noon or 1 p.m. to about 5 or 6. Rigidity is bad for the soul. Hot dogs, hamburgers and pop will be supplied but bring your own chair. We're sorry that the date clashes with the last part of the C.N.A. Convention in Ottawa and may depress their attendance figures a little, but whattaya goin' to do? Seriously, we would urge attendance there; details are in the C.N. Journal 's past couple of issues.

And there's been a question, but : there will be a regular meeting of the Mid-Island Coin Club in July (on the 10th) in addition to the barbecue.

Tracie S. has proposed we establish a photographic rogues' gallery of the MICC members. More on this later so we have plenty of time to press our bib overalls.
