As all those who attended know, the Great Mid-Island Barbecue was its usual success. A lot of the Mid-Islanders were there as were good-sized contingents from Alberni Valley and Victoria clubs. A number of bourses were in evidence as well as a 60-lot auction of really good stuff. And of course there were all the eats and drinks.
Events like this don't just appear out of the air. It takes concerted effort by a small core of members to make it happen and we should appreciate their dedication. No names will be mentioned here - but you know who they are.
Perhaps because the Barbecue occurred so closely to the July meeting, attendance of the latter was 18 members and guests this month. Well, cooler, not-so-nice weather is coming which seems to be conducive to collecting activities. Voting for the Bill Potts Memorial Trophy was put off until this month with a September presentation.
Big doin's this month with the Mid-Island's participation in the Vancouver Island Exhibition. Passes and marching orders will be issued at the August meeting.
So that all our members know, submissions for future Auctions are to be made to Rob and Tracie.
