The meeting of August 9th was held with 21 members and guests present. Phil Harris gave out the assigned times and passes for those manning the table at the VIEX on August 17-19. Orest Minishka, present holder of the Bill Potts Memorial Trophy, both explained the rules and conducted the balloting for the next recipient of this prize, the presentation which will be made at the September meeting. Tentatively, we hope to have Les Copan, B.C./Yukon Director for the C.N.A. in attendance.

 

For many clubs, September is rather the start of the new numismatic year after a summer hiatus. Mid-Island doesn't observe a "holiday" but even so, figures show that summer attendance can be expected to be slightly down. Now that the cool weather and earlier nightfall approaches, thoughts will no doubt turn increasingly to our numismatic pursuit.
