“Halifax Banking Co.” Specimen Sheet, 1872.

SpecimenBill

The Halifax Banking Company, Halifax, N.S., operated as a private bank 1825-1872, then as a chartered bank until 1903 when it merged with the Canadian Bank of Commerce. The above specimen sheet, all with the same central vignette, was printed for them by the American Bank Note Company of New York for the issue of October 1st, 1872. Note that each sheet contained 1-$4; 2-$5 and 1-$10. All are Series A except for the second $5, which was Series B. Presumably, all the notes on the sheet would have had the same serial number. (Illustration reduced about 50%)
