The May meeting was attended by 23 members and guests. Like Hallmark , we care to get the very best and consequently we were treated to an illustrated talk by Ron Greene on early British Columbia bank notes. As well, he displayed a number, all of which were RRR or even RRRR, including a Dominion of Canada $1 domiciled to Victoria, a banknote unknown until 1974. The scheduled speaker for the June meeting will be Const. Ingrid Thatcher of the R.C.M.P., Community Policing Liaison Officer for the Nanaimo area, who will give a talk on home security. Even those of us with nothing worth stealing should find this of interest. A few dates to note on your calendar: (1) Our annual club barbecue will be held July 23, between 1 and 6 p.m., at the Parksville Park. (2) We will again be participating in the V.I.E.X. by manning a table and spreading the numismatic gospel. (3) The C.N.A. Convention will be held July 20-23 in Niagara Falls (or at least very close by) and promises to be the biggest bash for many a year. By the time you receive this Journal , Nanaimo Stamp & Coin will have completed their move to 3150 North Island Highway, just south of the Bowen Road – Norwell Drive / Island Highway intersection, more or less across from Tom Harris Chevrolet in the Lenhart Building.
